Natural Resources Camp

July 27 to August 2, 2008
Camp Chickagami
Presque Isle, Michigan
Go charter fishing! Hike through forests! Wade through wetlands! Explore dunes! These are just a few of the many exciting activities that teens at 4-H Great Lakes and Natural Resources Camp can do.
What is 4-H Great Lakes & Natural Resources Camp?
4-H Great Lakes & Natural Resources Camp is an annual MSU pre-college program held in late July or early August on the northern shores of Lake Huron in Presque Isle, Michigan. This camp provides teens from across the state the opportunity to have fun in the great outdoors and to:
- Increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of natural resources ecology and management.
- Learn to enjoy, teach about and provide leadership in natural resources, especially the aquatic environment and the Great Lakes.
- Be motivated and see value in becoming good stewards in local natural resources projects.
- Develop career and personal interests in natural resources ecology and management.

Who
Should Attend?
This camp is designed for Michigan teens who will be aged 13 to 15 on July 1, 2008*. You do not need to be a 4-H member to attend. You’ll learn about natural resources and management issues, especially those related to the aquatic environment and the Great Lakes. A limited number of camp counselors ages 16 and older will be selected by the camp director and assistant director to serve as camp counselors.
*(Note: If you’ll only be 12 during camp but will enter 8th grade in the fall, you may still apply.)
Where is Camp?
Camp Chickagami is located along Lake Huron in the northeast corner of the Lower Peninsula in Presque Isle (between Rogers City and Alpena.) The state-licensed camp has dormitory-style housing, small cabins, a dining hall, and toilet and shower facilities. Meals will be prepared and served in the dining hall by a qualified cook.
