4-H Shooting Sports

2009 State Tournament Rules

New for 2009:

Eye and Ear Protection Requirement – For all firearm events, eye and ear protection is required. All participants and other persons on or in the immediate vicinity of the firing line, including coaches, range officials and any spectators must wear adequate eye protection (glasses orgoggles) and ear protection. THE EQUIPMENT MUST PROTECT BOTH EYES AND MEET OR EXCEED ANSI STANDARD Z87.1- 2003. For air events, only eye protection is required; and eye protection is strongly recommended but not required for archery events. Shooters are advised to purchase their own eye and ear protection so that they have used it in practice, are familiar with it in competition, and are satisfied with its quality.

Host site rules:
a) Spectators must wear eye and ear protection near firearm ranges.
b) Pregnant women are prohibited on the trap and skeet ranges.

TEAM ALTERNATES: Counties are encouraged to register FULL teams: event officials will NOT combine partial teams or alternates into full, mixed-county teams. Teams will shoot with the number of members registered by their county. Alternates will shoot ONLY if they are replacing a member of their county team who scratches. Alternates will not be charged the 'team' registration fee.

In 3-D archery events, only one stabilizer may be used. The stabilizer shall be no more than 12 inches long, and extend no more than 12 inches from the point of attachment to the riser of the bow.
