Volunteer Opportunities

For those who need hours for their Master Gardener or Advanced Master Gardener status, there are many opportunities available to you.
You need 10 volunteer hours and 3 education hours per year. A report form to keep tract of your volunteer hours can be printed from this Form
Note: attending classes presented at regular monthly meetings can be counted as Education Hours for recertification and Advanced Master Gardener status.
Adopt a Highway Project -
The Lenawee Master Gardener Association has adopted the two-mile stretch of highway in front of the Hidden Lake Gardens on M-50 between Pentecost and Beebe. We meet three weekends during the summer for the cleanup.

Ives Road Fen Preserve -
The Nature Conservancy, Michigan Chapter.
A short drive from Tecumseh on the River Raisen in Lenawee County, Ives Road Fen Preserve is one of the largest prairie fens in Michigan. ..at the Lenawee County MSU Extension office in Adrian. Starting in May we plan to have two mornings a week for homeowner gardening calls. A training session will be held in mid April. I hope that anyone that has helped answer questions in past years would be willing to volunteer a couple days during the gardening season. Contact

at Hidden Lake Gardens provide information on the plant collections, trails, classes and the member program. If you have had trouble getting your hours, this is an easy way to volunteer.
Tour Guiding -
Our tour guides help provide educational programs to hundreds of school children each spring. New tour guides are needed for the coming year. Giving tours is a wonderful way to share your knowledge. The conservatory and grounds of Hidden Lake Gardens provides an exciting educational experience for school and adult tours. If you would like to be included in tour guide training please contact

The Nature Conservancy of Michigan
There are a variety of ways you can volunteer such as: General maintenance assistants, office interns, painters, carpenters and drivers, special events volunteers are needed all over the state for special events, and volunteers who are willing to do weed removal, help on field trips and other outdoor activities.
