Scholarship Policy &
Procedures
Objective: One of the KCMGA primary objectives is the education of its
members. In an effort to assist members in the costs of training, the
KCMGA has established a scholarship policy.
Policy
There will be available annually, on a calendar year basis, up to
$1,000 to be used as scholarships.
Application for a scholarship may be submitted at anytime during the
year. The Committee of the Board appointed by the Board to review the
requests will promptly make a decision and notifiy the applicant.
A scholarship awarded will not exceed the cost of the registration or
$100, whichever is less.
The training for which a scholarship is requested must involve
gardening. The benefit the individual will receive from the training,
particularly in his/her role as a Master Gardener Volunteer, will be
considered in the selection process.
An individual is limited to one scholarship every two years.
Application Process
Any member needing financial assistance to attend training may submit
an application.
The application and selection process will be totally confidential.
Only the Board Members involved in the selection process will see the
applications. The membership at large will not be notified of who has
received a scholarship.
Information required for the application includes the title and date
of the training session, the name of the sponsor, and cost of
registration for the training. A brief essay regarding the training
and how the individual as a Master Gardener Volunteer would benefit
from the training is required.
The individual receiving a scholarship will sign a form acknowledging
receipt of the amount of the scholarship for the particular training.
This will serve to maintain our financial documentation requirements.
