MAEA Annual Meeting at Fall Extension Conference
Meeting Minutes
MAEA President Bobbi Lawrence called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Gale Arent with an Extension Update:
There is an inservice for agents with MACMA dealing with farm labor management. The inservice was scheduled for November 3, but might get moved to a later date. Contact Gale directly for more information.
Russell Freed, Acting Director of the Institute of International Agriculture:
Changes to MAEA Handbook
Paul Marks gave an update on the changes to the MAEA Operations Handbook including
specific changes to the constitution and By laws to bring MAEA in line with our national
organization. After discussion, Paul as the chair of the policy committee recommended the
constitution and by-laws changes be adopted.
MCEA recommended a constitutional change to allow a Community and Economic Development Association be formed that must meet the MCEA Association membership requirements. This would allow a place in MCEA agents not currently served in their programming emphasis.
Bill Robb made a motion to accept the MAEA constitution and by-laws changes.
Seconded by Joe Kelpinski.
Warren Schauer made a motion to amend the constitution from two regional directors and
three committee chairs in the north region to two directors and one committee chair,
-Second by Dennis Stein with no discussion
-Amendment passed
No further discussion on the original motion to accept the constitution changes in the handbook as amended, motion passed. Changes will be posted on the web page.

Kevin Gould reported on the new MAEA newsletter policy.
Newsletter will be coming out quarterly to MAEA members at will only be available on
the web.
Paul Marks reported on extension funds available for professional development.
In 1998 $10,000 went to MCEA for presentations at national meetings. In 1999 this
amount was raised to $15,000. Contact Diane Ayres or the MCEA Committee Chair to apply for
professional development monies if you are presenting at a national conference.
New MAEA Members were all recognized and given a plaque with the NACAA Code of Ethics. At the conclusion of the meeting plaques would be available for all dues paying members.
Presidents Report by Bobbi Lawrence, Accomplishments from last year included:
NACAA National Meeting Report;
Mark Longstroth reported that fourteen Agents attended the meeting.
One key point was the vote to keep the executive secretary for NACAA to carry out specific
duties for the organization.
Second, a vote of delegates resulted in no Galaxy Conference for the year 2003.
Van Varner gave the NACAA Committee Structure Report. Future Conferences will be held in
the following states.

2003 Green Bay, Wisconsin
Mark Seamon reported on award winners
National AA Bob Bricault and Rich Hodup
National DSA George Byelick and Thomas Rorabaugh
Bob Bricault presented a $25.00 gift certificate to Dean Solomon and Jim LeCureux for their efforts at the MAEA Spring Conference.
