Juniperus rigida--Temple Juniper

Hardiness Zones: 5 to 7
Height: 30 ft Spread: 10 ft Form: upright
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen shrub
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches

Comments: This Asian juniper is rather variable. It has an
open habit and will not be suitable for shearing or for use
in windbreaks. The branchlets are drooping and give the
plant a graceful appearance. Female plants will bear black
fruits. Another common name, Needle Juniper alludes to the
sharp needles that can make it difficult to work with the
plant.

Cultivars:
'Hikari' - The new growth is yellowish-white.
'Pendula' - Weeping form (Vis. 1).
