Comments: This native shares many traits with other sumacs.
The main ornamental traits are the red fall color and the
red fruit. The plant gets its common name from the glossy
foliage. Suckering will cause Shining Sumac to spread to
form thickets. It may be a suitable choice for dry sites.
Cultivars:
'Prairie Flame(R)' - A slow-growing cultivar with good
fall color, plants about 4 feet tall.
