Ornamental Plants plus Version 3.0 - 00002224
11/12/99
Clerodendrum bungei
Hardiness Zones: 7 to 9
Height: 5 ft Spread: 4 ft Form: upright
Type: deciduous shrub
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches
Flowers: Pink
Comments: This member of the Glory Bower family is not fully
hardy for northern gardens. The main ornamental feature is
the clusters of pink flowers that occur in late summer.
Clerodendrum prefers a sunny growing area and a well-drained
soil. The plant will probably be killed to the ground in
some or most winters. If so, cut back the plant to the
ground and it should regrow unless the root system sustained
winter injury. The plant has a spreading, suckering
underground root system.
