Magnolia macrophylla--Bigleaf Magnolia
Hardiness Zones: 5 to 8
Height: 40 ft Spread: 30 ft Form: rounded
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Flowers: White
Fruit: Red
Comments: This magnolia is appropriate named as the leaves
can reach a length of 32 inches. Such large leaves give
the tree a coarse texture and present an interesting
litter problem in the fall. The fragrant, white flowers
can be 12 inches in diameters. The 3-inch (Vis. 1) long
fruit are pinkish-red.
