Cornus controversa--Giant Dogwood

Comments: This oriental dogwood is similar to C.
alternifolia except that C. controversa is more vigorous.
The flat clusters of white flowers are followed by fruits
that change from red to black as they ripen. Giant
Dogwood has the horizontal branching habit that is common
to other members of the genus.
Cultivars:
'June Snow' - A plant 30 feet tall and 40 feet wide will
produce clusters of white flowers (Vis. 2). The fall
color is orange to red (Vis. 3).
'Variegata' - The leaves have white margins (Vis. 1).
