Aesculus glabra--Ohio Buckeye
Hardiness Zones: 3 to 7
Height: 35 ft Spread: 35 ft Form: rounded
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Flowers: Yellow
Fruit: Brown
Comments: Ohio Buckeye is a native tree with compound
leaves that turn yellow or orange before dropping in the
fall. The greenish-yellow flowers are borne in upright
clusters. The brown nuts can be a litter problem later in
the growing season. A variety of insect, disease and
physiological problems may limit the usefulness of this
tree. Some sources describe the tree as being more
drought tolerant than other Aesculus while other sources
describe a tendency to leaf scorch.
