Comments: This holly is a hybrid of I. aquifolium and I.
pernyi. The plants are dense and pyramidal with glossy
green foliage. The plant is dioecious, consequently only
the females will bear the red fruits and only if a male
holly is present. Male forms of I. x meserveae will
pollinate this hybrid. I. x aquipernyi is similar in
appearance to I. aquifolium but is more winter hardy.
Cultivars:
'San Jose' - A wide plant with upright branching,
female.
