Fertilizing Hardy Bulbs
At planting time, work this fertilizer into the soil at
the bottom of the hole. Many first time bulb planters
mix it with the soil used to cover the bulbs with. This
puts the fertilizer above the bulb and unavailable to the
roots. Bulbs are fertilized again when they bloom. Use
one pound of 5-10-10 or three pounds of bone meal for each
50 square feet of bed. Do not use high nitrogen
fertilizer. Chemical fertilizers allowed to get on the
foliage may burn.
