Comments: A fast-growing vine (Vis. 1) that can reach 30
feet, however, it is usually trained to a trellis, arbor or
other more confined structure. The main ornamental feature
is the drooping, 18-inch clusters of lavender flowers
(Vis. 2) borne in the spring. The flower color can vary
depending on the cultivar used. Any support must be of
sturdy construction as the plant will become extremely heavy
in time.

Cultivars:
'Alba' - White flowers.
'Issai Perfect' - White flowers are produced while
plants are still young.
'Ivory Tower' - Heavy production of fragrant white
flowers.
'Lawrence' - A hardy cultivar with blue flowers
'Longitissima Alba' - White flowers in clusters 15
inches long.
'Macrobotrys' - The reddish purple flowers are in
clusters that can be 4 feet long.
'Macrobotrys Cascade' - A vigorous plant with white and
pinkish-purple flowers.
'Plena' - Double, blue flowers in dense flower
clusters.
'Rosea' - Flowers a pale rose, tipped with purple.
'Royal Purple' - Purple flowers.
'Snow Showers' - Long of racemes of white flowers
having a lilac tinge.
'Texas Purple' - Purple flowers produced while the
plant is still young.
'Violacea Plena' - Double, purple rosette-like flowers.
