Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Comments: Canadian Hemlock may be one of the most
beautiful conifers with its soft, green (Vis. 3) needles
attached to arching branches. Canadian hemlock is tolerant
of shearing and can be used in large (Vis. 2), sheared
screens.

'Albospica' - The foliage is tipped with white.
'Ashfield Weeper' - An irregular, weeping shrub.
'Aurea Compacta' - A dwarf with bright gold foliage.
'Bacon Cristate' - An upright dwarf with dark green
foliage.
'Beehive' - A dense, dwarf with a globe shape.
'Bennett' - A slow growing, spreading, (Vis. 8)
horizontal plant that will grow 2 feet tall and spread
4 feet.
'Bergman's Gem' - A rounded dwarf.
'Betty Rose' - A small plant that produces flushes of new
growth with white variegations.
'Brandleyii' - A broad pyramidal form with a slow
growth rate.
'Cappy's Choice' - A low shrub with light green foliage
flushed with yellow.
'Cinnamomea' - A rounded dwarf, the twigs and buds are
brown.
'Cloud Prune' - A slow-growing, spreading, dense plant.
'Coffin' - A small, dense shrub.
'Cole's Prostrate' - A slow-growing dwarf (Vis. 14) that
is less than a foot tall and will spread 3 feet.
'Curly' - An upright dwarf with curled foliage.
'Dawsoniana' - An upright tree with bright green
foliage (Vis. 6).
'Elm City' - A spreading, irregular shrub with a somewhat
weeping growth habit.
'Everitt Golden' - The branches are ascending. The
young foliage is yellow (Vis. 9) but becomes darker.
'Forest Fountain' - A small, upright tree.
'Frostie' - The foliage has white variegations.
'Geneva' - An upright, open shrub with ascending main
branches and dark green foliage.
'Gentsch White' - A globose shrub (Vis. 5) with white
variegations (Vis. 4) especially fall and winter.
'Golden Splendor' - A cultivar with gold foliage and a
fast growth rate.
'Gracilis' ('Nana Gracilis') - A low plant with a
spreading habit.
'Horsford' - A dense, miniature plant with an irregular
growth habit.
'Horsford Contorted' - A dwarf with twisted branches.
'Hussi' - An upright, irregular plant with a slow
growth rate and dark green (Vis. 7) foliage.
'Jacqueline Verkade' - A rounded dwarf with tiny
foliage and thin stems.
'Jeddeloh' - A dwarf, spreading mound (Vis. 12).
'Jervis' - A dense, broad pyramid with a slow growth
rate.
'Kelsey's Weeping' - A weeping form that has a layered
appearance.
'Lewis' - An irregularly pyramidal form.
'Macrophylla' - A slow growing, dense cultivar with
dark green foliage.
'Minuta' - A dense, rounded plant with a very slow
growth rate.
'Monier' (Emerald Fountain TM) - A columnar form with
dark green foliage.
'Muttontown' ('Armistice') - A broad, cone-shaped plant,
the foliage dark green.
'Nana' - A rounded, dwarf.
'New Gold' - The new growth is bright yellow, the plant
eventually becoming a large tree.
'Palomino' - A slow-growing dwarf.
'Pendula' - A weeping, graceful cultivar (Vis. 1).
'Pendula Sargenti' - A slow growing spreading tree when
young developing arching branches with age. If not
staked it will be about 2 feet tall otherwise it will
be taller.
'Ruggs Washington Dwarf' - A rounded dwarf with brown,
hairy buds and yellowish foliage.
'Sargentii' - A pendulous form (Vis. 13).
'Sherwood Compacta' - A dwarf with a low, spreading
habit.
'Slenderella' - A tall, narrow tree.
'Stockman's Dwarf' - A conical, upright, slow growing
plant.
'Summer Snow' - A spreading form with white new growth.
'Verkade Recurved' - An irregular (Vis. 10) cultivar with
recurved (Vis. 11) leaves.
'Von Helms' - A dense, cone-shaped to irregular plant
with dark green leaves.
'Warner's Globe' - A large, rounded plant with tufted
foliage.
'Westonigra' - Similar to the species but with dark
green foliage, especially in winter.
'Youngcone' - This cultivar bear cones when 5 to 6 years
old.
