Thuja orientalis (Platycladus orientalis)--Oriental Arborvitae

Annual Growth Rate: less than 12 inches
Comments: Oriental Arborvitae is less hardy than American
Arborvitae. The species (Vis. 1) grows 18 to 25 feet tall
and spreads 10 to 12 feet. It tolerates pruning and can be
used as a hedge plant.
Cultivars:
'Aurea Nana' - A pyramidal form with golden-yellow
foliage.
'Blue Cone' - A pyramidal form 8 feet tall and 4 feet
wide with bluish-green foliage.
'Collen's Gold' - A narrow, upright form with orange-
yellow foliage.
'Elegantissima' - A narrow pyramid with dark green
foliage tipped with gold.
'Minima Glauca' - A pyramidal to rounded plant with
bluish-green foliage. Usually with a height and
width of about 4 feet.
'Westmont' - Slow growing, globe form (Vis. 2) with dark
green foliage tipped with gold (Vis. 3). A height of
about 3 feet and a width of 2 feet.
