Taxodium distichum--Common Bald Cypress

Comments: Common Bald Cypress looks like an evergreen but
is actually deciduous so drops its leaves (Vis. 2) in the
fall. The growth habit (Vis. 1) is narrow while young but
becomes broader as the plant ages. Common Bald Cypress is
intolerant of shade when young and can be used near water.

Cultivars:
'Fastigiata' - A columnar cultivar.
'Mickelson' (Shawnee Brave TM) - Narrowly pyramidal
tree that is more narrow than the species.
'Monarch of Illinois' - A wider form than the species.
'Pendens' - Pyramidal cultivar.
'Secrest' - A flat-topped dwarf (Vis. 3).
