Spiraea japonica--Japanese Spirea

Flowers: pink

Comments: The species will grow to 5 feet but it is
usually present in landscapes in the form as one of its
cultivars.

Cultivars:
'Albiflora' - This low-growing shrub produces white
flowers in mid to late summer. Grow the plant in sun
or light shade. There is no fall foliage color.
'Alpina' - A short, dense plant (Vis. 16) producing pink
flowers (Vis. 17).
'Candle Light' - The pale yellow foliage (Vis. 18) is
combined with pink flowers.
'Everblooming' - Pink flowers are produced from mid-
summer to fall.
'Fire Light' - Orange colored new growth (Vis. 1) and a
bright red fall color are produced on compact plants.
The flowers are pink.
'Flaming Mound' - The foliage (Vis. 3) is yellow and the
flowers are dark pink (Vis. 2).
'Goldflame' - Red flowers are combined with golden
spring foliage (Vis. 5) that fades to green.
'Gold Mound' - (Vis. 4) The golden foliage has red tips
in the fall. The flowers are pink.
'Lemon Princess' - (Vis. 6) Bright yellow foliage and
pale pink flowers.
'Lisp' ('Golden Princess') - A mounded plant 3 feet
tall and 4 feet wide (Vis. 7). The foliage is bright
yellow and the flowers are pink.
'Little Princess' - A low, mounded plant (Vis. 8) with
pink flowers (Vis. 9) and a dark red fall color.
'Magic Carpet' - (Vis. 10) The new shoots are red and
mature in to bronze colored foliage. The flowers are
deep pink (Vis. 11). The fall foliage color is dark
red.
'Mertyann' ('Dakota Goldcharm') - A dwarf only 15
inches tall but spreading to 3 feet (Vis. 12). The
leaves are yellow with red tips. The bright pink
flowers are produced in early summer with additional
sporadic flowering throughout the season.
'Neon Flash' - Red flowers (Vis. 13) are combined with
reddish new growth.
'Shibori' - This mound-shaped cultivar will be 2 feet
tall and 3 feet wide. The flowers are pink or white
and flowers (Vis. 14) of either color can occur in the
same flower cluster.
'Shirobana' - This cultivar produces clusters of white,
pink or red flowers (Vis. 15) all at the same time.
