ROBINIA INSECT PROBLEMS

Locust borer adults have long antennae and are black
with yellow markings. The larvae bore into the trunks.
The trees are fairly tolerant of small populations of
borers. Keep trees healthy by fertilizing. Pesticides
can be applied to the lower trunk in spring as leaves are
unfolding.

Carpenterworm also bores in the trunk and branches of
locust. The larvae are white to pink and have brown
tubercles.

Scales can be controlled with sprays applied when crawlers
are active.

Spider mites cause green leaf color to take on a stippled
appearance.
