Polemonium caeruleum--Jacob's Ladder
Hardiness Zones: 2 to 7
Height: 24 in Spread: 18 in
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: Blue
Comments: This polemonium grows in sun or shade in any
average, well-drained soil. The pale blue (Vis. 1) flowers
are produced in early summer. These natives of North
America are suitable subjects for rock gardens or at the
front of flower borders. Jacob's Ladder will not do well in
hot climates. The pinnate leaves are arranged like steps on
a ladder hence the common name.
Propagation: Divide the plant in late summer or propagate
from cuttings in late summer.
Cultivars:
'Apricot Delight' - The lilac-blue flowers have apricot
yellow centers.
'Brise d'Anjou' - The leaflets have white margins.
