Type: herbaceous evergreen perennial
Comments: Pachysandra has no ornamental flowers (Vis. 2) but
is good as a ground cover (Vis. 3) in shaded areas. It is
slow to establish and if planted one foot apart takes 2 to 3
years to fill in. The plant grows in most soils. The
foliage is yellowish and scorched if exposed to full sun and
dryness.
Propagation: Propagation is by division, or summer stem
cuttings.
Cultivars:
'Green Carpet' - Compact form with good green color.
'Green Sheen' - Glossy green leaves that hold color in
sun or shade.
'Silver Edge' - The light green leaves have white
margins.
'Variegata' - The leaves have white margins (Vis. 1).
