Lythrum virgatum--Wand Loosestrife

Comments: Wand Loosestrife is very similar to L. salicaria
in most ways except it is smaller. The plant is adaptable
to a wide variety of soil types and light exposures. It
is usually present in gardens in the form of one of the
cultivars listed below. Some states have restrictions on
use of this plant because of its tendency to become a fast-
spreading weed. The plant is prohibited in Arkansas,
Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North
Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and
Wisconsin.
Cultivars:
'Morden Gleam' - Plants 3 feet tall bear carmine
flowers (Vis. 1).
'Morden Pink' - Plants to 4 feet tall bear pink
flowers.
