Lonicera japonica--Japanese Honeysuckle

Hardiness Zones: 4 to 9
Height: 20 ft Spread: 20 ft Form: spreading
Type: semi-evergreen vine
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches
Flowers: White

Comments: This vigorous, twining vine is often used as a
ground cover. The main ornamental feature is the very
fragrant flowers that open white and change to yellow with
age. The plant mounds up on itself but a planting is
usually 2 feet tall. The vine will tolerate dry soils.

Cultivars:
'Aureoreticulata' ('Reticulata') - The leaves are marked
with a network of gold variations.
'Halliana' - A popular choice as a ground cover,
especially for large areas (Vis. 1).
var. purpurea - A slower-growing cultivar. The leaves
are purplish-green and the flowers are purplish-red
outside and white inside.
