JUGLANS INSECT PROBLEMS
Fall webworm larvae web over branches then feed on leaves
inside the nest. Nests can be pruned out of small trees.
Scales of various types attack walnuts. Identify the
insect and apply pesticides recommended for that
particular scale. Most scales can be controlled with
dormant oil applied in spring. Use properly timed sprays
to control crawlers.
The leaves may be eaten by anyone of several caterpillars.
These can be controlled with sprays once identified.
Mites cause speckling and yellowing of the leaves.
