Ornamental Plants plus Version 3.0 - 00000797

Jacobinia velutina--Brazilian Plume
Type: house plant
Comments: Jacobinia produces pink flowers but it is
difficult to grow. Provide medium light or partial sun
and a moderately moist soil. Over-watering causes leaf
browning and flower blasting. Repotting is done in March
but should not be necessary every year. Ideal
temperatures are between 60 and 85 degrees. Prune old
plants each year after blooming to encourage new growth.
Large plants can be top-dressed rather than be repotted.
Remove the flower when it fades.
Propagation: Propagation is by stem cuttings taken at any
time.
