HYACINTHUS INSECT PROBLEMS

Bulb mite causes little brown spots on the bulbs which
become powdery masses. The bulb surfaces become brown and
hard. Discard heavily infested bulbs and avoid infested
soil.

White grubs feed on the bulbs and roots.

Stem and bulb nematode causes bent and yellowish leaves
which later turn brown. Blossoming is reduced and bulb
scales become brown and rotted. Bulb cross sections show
a dark ring. Infested parts often become swollen. Avoid
infested soil. No chemical controls are suggested.
