Comments: Chinese Witchhazel grows quite tall and needs a
light, loamy, well-drained soil. The fragrant flowers are
produced in early spring and have yellow, strap-like
petals becoming reddish near the base. The plant dislikes
dryness and has a yellow fall color. Chinese Witchhazel
can be grown in sun or shade.
Cultivars:
'Brevipetala' - Large, fragrant yellow (Vis. 1) flowers
are produced in early spring.
'Goldcrest' - Fragrant yellow flowers.
'Pallida' - The flowers are lemon yellow.
'Superba' - Orange flowers are produced in early
spring.
