Comments: The intermedias are hybrids of H. japonica and
H. mollis. These are some of the first shrubs to bloom in
the spring (Vis. 2). The plant is usually present in
landscapes in the form of the cultivars.
Cultivars:
'Arnold Promise' - Bright yellow flowers (Vis. 1).
'Diane' - The red flowers (Vis. 4) in early spring are
followed by fall color (Vis. 3) consisting of red,
yellow and orange.
'Feuerzauber'('Magic Fire', 'Fire Charm') - The flowers
are large and coppery-orange.
'Hiltingbury' - Flowers orange-red and purple, fall
foliage color orange and red.
'Girard's Orange' - Fragrant, orange flowers are
produced on a robust and fast-growing plant.
'Jelena'('Copper Beauty') - Coppery-orange flowers.

'Primavera' - The large, yellow flowers have purple
centers.
'Ruby Glow' - Flowers bronze red.
'Westerstede' - Yellow flowers and fall foliage color.
