Ginkgo biloba--Maidenhair Tree



Hardiness Zones: 4 to 8
Height: 65 ft Spread: 75 ft Form: (Vis. 2) pyramidal
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches

Comments: Ginkgo is practically pest free, resistant to
storm damage, and casts light shade. Only male plants
should be used as the female produces ill-smelling fruit
(Vis. 4) in late autumn. Ginkgo tolerates most soil types.
The tree is easily transplanted and has a (Vis. 3) yellow
fall color.

Cultivars:
Autumn Gold TM - A male with an upright, symmetrical
form.
'Canopy' - Spreading crown, male.
'Chase Manhattan' - An extremely dwarf from.
'Fairmount' - A pyramidal, dense crown.
'Jade Butterfly' - A dwarf (Vis. 5) with small, dark
green (Vis. 6) leaves.
'Kew' - A dwarf with slow growth.
'Lakeview' - A narrow, upright, male suitable for use
as a street tree.
'Magyar' - Uniform, upright branching, male tree.
'Mayfield' - A columnar cultivar reaching a height of
60 feet but a width of only 25 feet.
Princeton Sentry(R) ('PNI 2720') - An upright growing
male tree. (Vis. 1)
'Saratoga' - A pyramidal tree produces a strong central
leader. This male clone will be about 40 feet tall
and 25 feet wide.
Shangri-la TM - A pyramidal tree reaching a height of 45
feet and a spread of 25 feet. A male selection with
bright yellow fall color.
'Tubiforme' - Tubular leaves.
'Variegata' - Leaves marked with yellow.
'Windover Gold' - A pyramidal, male tree with golden
yellow fall color.
