Gazania--Treasure Flower

Height: 15 in Spacing: 12 in
Type: annual
Flowers: Orange, pink, red, white, yellow

Comments: Gazania grows well in rock gardens or in hot,
dry areas. Good soil gives best growth but the plant
tolerates poor, sandy soil. Gazania requires less water
than most annuals. Full sun is preferred and the flowers
(Vis. 1) do not open on wet or cloudy days. Removing the
old blossoms will increase the number of flowers produced.

Propagation: The plant is propagated by either seed or
cuttings. The cuttings are taken in August or September
and the plants are grown inside during the winter. The
seed germinates in 10 to 14 days at 68 to 86 degrees.
Cover the flat after planting seed, as light inhibits
germination.

Cultivars:
'Daybreak Series'
'Dynastar Mix'
'Ministar Series'
'Talent Mix'
