Fuchsia - Lady's Eardrops

Type: house plant

Comments: Fuchsia (Vis. 1) is a good plant for a hanging
pot. In the house they need bright light but outside
provide some shade. Provide an evenly moist soil and use a
house plant fertilizer according to label directions.
Fuchsia prefers cool temperatures, preferably below 70
degrees. Ideal temperatures are 60 to 65 degrees during the
day and 50 to 55 degrees at night. Plants grown outside
during the summer must be brought inside before the first
fall frost. Excessively large plants may be cut back to 6
inch stubs in late fall or early winter. Fuchsia may be
rested during the winter. Resting plants are pruned back
and run quite dry until February, when normal watering is
begun. Hot and dry weather causes flower bud drop.

Comments: Propagation is by seed or stem tip cuttings.
