Forsythia ovata--Early Forsythia

Comments: Early Forsythia is the earliest of all the
forsythias to bloom. The flowers are produced less
abundantly than some of the other forsythias and are
yellow.
Cultivars:
'French's Florence' - The small, light yellow flowers
are produced on slow-growing, compact plants that are
wider than tall.
'Meadowlark' - Developed for the northern plains by
Experiment Stations in North and South Dakota and the
Arnold Arboretum. The flower buds are very hardy,
the flowers yellow.
'Northern Gold' - An upright form that will reach 8
feet.
'Northern Sun' - Grows to 8 feet and has yellow
flowers.
'Ottawa' - A compact upright plant with light yellow
flowers.
'Robusta' - An 8-foot tall plant that produces
primrose-yellow flowers and has mahogany-red fall
foliage color.
'Tetragold' - A slow, wide, compact-growing plant that
reaches a height of 5 feet.
