Comments: Several members of this genus are listed in
catalogs. They are generally tall plants with flat
clusters of flowers. Some are quite useful near water.
Usually a sunny growing area with a well-drained soil is
suggested.
Propagation: Propagation is by division in spring or fall,
or by cuttings taken in spring. Division may be needed to
keep the plant under control.
Cultivars:
'Bartered Bride' - A cultivar of E. maculatum with white
flowers.
'Chocolate' - A cultivar of E. rugosum. The plant is only
4 feet tall and has purplish leaves. The flowers are
white.
'Cori' - A cultivar of E. coelestinum that produces
lavender blue flowers on 2-foot tall plants.
'Gateway' - A rather large plant (Vis. 2) that produces
large clusters (Vis. 1) of purple flowers on red stems.
