Cosmos bipinnatus--Mexican Aster

Height: 48 in Spacing: 24 in
Type: annual
Flowers: Pink, red, white

Comments: Cosmos bloom in late summer and are easy to grow
but tend to sprawl so need support or lots of room.
Provide a good garden soil, a sunny exposure, and shelter
from the wind. Cosmos are at their best in autumn. The
flowers (Vis. 1) are good for cutting. The finely cut
foliage is also ornamental.

Propagation: Some varieties come true from saved seed.
The seed germinates in five to seven days at 68 to 86
degrees. The seed can be planted directly into the garden
after the danger of frost has passed.
