Buddleia davidii--Butterfly-bush

Hardiness Zones: 6 to 9
Height: 6 ft Spread: 5 ft Form: rounded
Type: deciduous shrub
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches
Flowers: Blue, purple, red, white

Comments: This large shrub is valued for its summer
flowers. The flower color varies with the cultivar but
flowering occurs from summer to fall. In northern
climates, the shrub may be killed to ground level in the
winter. The fragrant flowers attract butterflies, hence
the common name. This is an easy to grow plant that
should be pruned in the spring as the 6- to 30-inch flower
clusters are borne on new growth. The grayish-green
foliage provides a good background for the flowers.
