Baptisia australis--Wild Indigo
Hardiness Zones: 3 to 9
Height: 4 ft Spread: 4 ft
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: Blue
Comments: This large, mounded plant (Vis. 1) produces blue
flowers (Vis. 2) in early summer. The plant may be grown in
sun or partial shade and it will tolerate poor soil. The
seed pods are attractive and may be used in dried
arrangements. Wild Indigo is long-lived but because of its
size should be used near the back of the perennial bed or
border.
