Type: herbaceous perennial
Comments: The main ornamental feature of White Sage is its
silvery foliage. These tall plants can be used at the
back of the flower border to provide a background for
lower plants. The silvery foliage can also be used where
neutral colored plants are needed. The foliage can be
dried.
Propagation: Division in the spring.
Cultivars: Some of the cultivars listed below are actually
cultivars of A. l. var. albula.
'Silver Queen' - A 3-foot tall plant produces silvery
leaves suitable for cutting.
'Silver King' - Fragrant, silvery foliage (Vis. 1).
'Valerie Finnis' - Showy, wide, silvery (Vis. 2) leaves
on 2-foot tall plants.
