Amsonia tabernaemontana-Willow Amsonia
Hardiness Zone: 5 to 9
Height: 3 ft Spacing: 18 in
Type: herbaceous perennial

Comments: Willow Amsonia is an adaptable, low maintenance
plant that can be used in a wide range of sites. The
plant prefers partially shaded, cool, moist conditions.
In sunny or dry conditions it will not grow as well. The
blue flowers (Vis. 1) are star-shaped and will be produced
in late spring or early summer. The plant has few apparent
pest problems and retains a healthy appearance throughout
the growing season. The foliage resembles that of willows
and the leaves turn yellow in the fall. Willow Amsonia is
not usually invasive and is regarded as an excellent garden
flower.
Propagation: Propagation is by seed or by division done in
spring or autumn.
