Allium aflatunense--Purple Allium

Flowers: Purple
Comments: The purple flowers (Vis. 1) are borne in 4-inch,
dense umbels or rounded clusters. The flowers (Vis. 2) are
purple with darker veins and can be dried or used fresh in
arrangements. Provide a growing area in sun and with a
well-drained soil. The best planting time is in the fall
with a suggested planting depth of 5 inches.
Propagation: Bulblets can be separated from larger bulbs
in the fall. Replant them immediately. Seed may also be
used.
Cultivars:
'Purple Sensation' - Round, 3-inch clusters of dark
purple flowers.
