Alchemilla mollis--Common Lady's Mantle
Hardiness Zone: 3 to 8
Height: 18 in Spacing: 12 in
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: Yellow
Comments: Common Lady's Mantle should be used with care as
it can be invasive. The primary problem is profuse seed
production that leads to many volunteer plants. This can
be reduced by removing the flower stalks as the flowers
fade. The flower color ranges from yellow (Vis. 1) to
green. The blossoms can be used in either fresh or dried
arrangements. The foliage is rather large and deeply
lobed.
Propagation: Propagation is by seed or division. Division
can be done in either spring or autumn.
Cultivars:
'Thiller' - Star-like flowers have a texture like straw
and are useful in arrangements. The foliage is
grayish-green.
References for Cultivars: Thompson and Morgan 1997.
