Lavandula stoechas--French Lavender
Hardiness Zones: 6 to 9
Height: 3 ft Spread: 2 ft
Type: herbaceous evergreen perennial
Flowers: Purple
Comments: French lavender is not as cold tolerant as some
other species of lavender. The purple flowers appear in
summer and are attractive to butterflies. At the top of
each flower cluster are purple, feather-like bracts. The
foliage resembles that of other lavenders. Shear the plants
after flowering to remove the spent flower spikes.
Cultivars:
'Otto Quasti' - The flowers are larger than the species.
