Campanula barbata--Bearded Bellflower
Hardiness Zones: 5 to 7
Height: 12 in Spacing: 12 in
Type: perennial or biennial
Flowers: Blue
Comments: This short bellflower is native to mountainous
regions of Europe. The plant gets is common name from the
fringe of hairs at the mouth of the flowers. It is a
short-lived perennial and so may be treated as a biennial.
The plant self-seeds and so may act as a perennial.
Provide a well-drained soil as excessive soil moisture
will shorten its life even further. The bell-shaped
flowers are produced in clusters at the top of 12 inch
tall stems.
