Stachys byzantina--Lamb's-ears

Hardiness Zones: 4 to 8
Height: 15 in Spread: 18 in
Type: herbaceous perennial
Flowers: Pink

Comments: Lamb's-ears is grown for its woolly, gray
foliage rather than its flowers. The flowers are produced
from mid- to late summer, however, they are not ornamental
and some of the cultivars do not flower. The plant grows
best in a sunny site that has well-drained soil. The
clumps grow slowly and eventually become bare in the
middle and so need to be rejuvenated by division.

Propagation: Seeds or division.

Cultivars:
'Big Ears' - The leaves are up to two times larger than
     those of the species.
'Helene von Stein' - A non-flowering form with larger
     leaves.
'Silver Carpet' - A non-flowering cultivar with silvery
     foliage.
