Comments: The main ornamental feature of Damask
Horsechestnut is red flowers produced in panicles at the
ends of the branches. The new foliage has a reddish tinge
and in the fall is yellowish but the leaves drop quickly.
Provide a sunny exposure and a rich, damp soil. The nuts
are covered with tan husks while still on the tree.
Damask Horsechestnut transplants well and may form clumps
because of its tendency to form suckers.

Cultivars:
var. splendens - A small, low-branched tree or large
shrub with a rounded top and dark green foliage. The
bright red flowers are followed by shiny brown seeds.
