can MSU Extension do for you?
MSU Family and Consumer Extension programs are designed
to help individuals, families, and community groups access research-based
knowledge in the areas of::

How are MSU Extension program presented?
Our programs reach individuals and/or small groups in a single presentation
or as a series, at on-site community locations or in our conference room
at MSU Extension.
Who do we serve?
We offer single presentations or series, FREE, to all residents of
Hillsdale County: service clubs, community groups, organizations, schools,
and businesses; children and adults. Programs can be formatted to various
time frames.

Questions and Answers - Provide answers
for Hillsdale Co. residents with questions on nutrition, cooking, food
safety, food preservation, food substitutes, stains on clothing, and general
household. If you have questions, do not hesitate to call. MSU Extension
has a tremendous amount of resources available to help us find the correct
answer.
Food Safety
Learn about food bacteria and safe food practices while participating
in food jeopardy. (1 hour)
ServSafe - This 4-hour course, for those serving food to the public,
focuses on: controlling time + temperature, personal hygiene, preventing
cross-contamination and cleaning + sanitizing. Certificate awarded upon
completion.
Financial Management
All My Money-When participants have completed this four-hour program
they will have their own home business center (filing system) to take
with them. They will learn about budgeting, wise use of credit, importance
of saving, etc.
Operating a Home-Based Business
Learn what it takes to succeed in a home-based business. Look at the
legal aspects, zoning, insurance, record keeping, pricing, taxes, marketing
and advertising. Half day and whole day programs.
Radon-Something You Can Live Without
Hillsdale Co. has the highest recorded incidence of elevated radon
levels in the state. Learn about this national health risk and how easy
it is to test your home or business.
Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?
This 2-hour program, which includes a 95 page soft-cover workbook,
leads you through a series of steps to help you in making decisions about
passing on your personal possessions.
Family
Nutrition Programs Candace Gardiner, MSU Extension Health and Family Nutrition
Program Associate.
Candace is available to do programs on nutrition and health for adults
and children of all ages, preschoolers to high schoolers. Preschool programs
include lessons in nutrition, food safety, exercise, fire safety, dental
hygiene, poison prevention, etc. She also has a fun nutrition series for
elementary age children that includes hands-on food preparation.
