Disposal Tip For Automobile and Petroleum Products

Fluids must be pure and not mixed with each other. Cross-contamination makes it difficult to recycle these materials.

• Prevent contamination of rivers, streams and drinking water supplies - one quart of oil can pollute 250,000 gallons of water!
• Prevent health hazards - They are often highly flammable and toxic. Antifreeze contains a sweet-tasting, poisonous chemical that is attractive to children and pets. Automotive batteries contain toxins and acid that can burn the skin and hurt the eyes.

1) Use it up. Old gasoline can be mixed with 5 times as much fresh gasoline in your car and reused.
2) Give it away. Contact fuel suppliers in the yellow pages if you can't find anyone who wants it.
3) Recycle it. Drain into a sealed container, such as a milk jug with a cap. When buying engine oil, ask your dealer for re-refined motor oil. NEVER mix gasoline or anything else in oil to be recycled. They may contaminate the oil, making it unusable.
