4-H is the largest out-of-school youth program in Michigan and in the United States. More than 5 million young people aged 5 to 19 are involved in clubs, after-school groups and other activities all over the country. In Genesee County each year, we serve about 4,000 youth through 4-H Clubs, school enrichment programs, and services provided to other youth-serving agencies, such as Scouts, church groups, Boys & Girls Clubs among others. In Michigan, 4-H is part of Michigan State University Extension, so just by being a 4-H'er you automatically become an honorary junior Spartan!
4-H youth development creates supportive environments for culturally diverse youth and adults to reach their fullest potential. In support of this mission we will: Provide formal and non-formal community-focused experiential learning.
Achievement of this mission will result in capable, competent, and caring citizens.
You can join the 200,000 Michigan young people who are doing cool things and learning more about topics that interest them through 4-H! Contact Darren Bagley by email or phone (244-8515) at your Genesee County Michigan State University Extension Office to find out about existing 4-H clubs or groups you can join, or find a cool adult or older teen you really like to do things with and four more of your closest friends and start your own 4-H club! Your Genesee County MSU Extension office can give you information on how to register your club or group. These are the project areas that have educational resources available to all youth serving organizations including classrooms, scouts, church youth groups as well as 4-H Clubs. If you are interested in obtaining any of the resource materials, contact Darren Bagley.
