Fruit AOE Pear Growth Stage Reference

Dormant This bud is just starting to swell. The tip is open. No swelling visible
Bud Swell As the pear bud swells new tissue is visible around the bud scales As the buds swell, the light colored edges of the bud scales become visible.
Bud Burst Pear Bud Burst The bud pops open and the flowers cluster emerges.
Green Cluster Individual flowers are visible and tightly pressed together At green cluster the flower cluster is easliy recognizable
White Bud White bud is when the white of the petals becomes visible The flower buds have grown enough to expose the white petals of the pear flowers.
Popcorn   The flower petals form a hollow ball that resembles popped popcorn.
First Bloom The lower flowers open first in pears. The first flowers are opening.
Full Bloom Almost all the flowers are open 80% or more of the flowers on the tree or in the orchard are open.
Petal Fall These flowers have lost all their petals Flower petals are falling from the tree.
8 mm Fruit 8 mm fruit with "Rat tail bloom" in the cluster The number refers to fruit diameter in millimeters. Late bloom after the bloom period is over is called 'rat tail bloom' and seldom develops fruit.
10 mm Fruit The larger fruit is about a half inch wide.
