Peach Fruit  Stage Reference -- Peach

Peaches - Red Haven
Dormant 2 flower buds with a leaf bud in between them No swelling visible. This picture shows 2 flower buds (the plump ones) and a single leaf bud. This is the timing for peach leaf curl control.
Bud Swell Peach bud swell Swollen buds become noticeable and no green tissue is visible. This is a single flower bud.
Bud Burst Bud burst is also know as green calyx Also called "Green Calyx" or green bud. The top of the bud has opened. The top and sides are noticeably green.
0.25" Green Red Caylx Refers to a 1/4" of leaf tissue showing from the leaf buds. You can see that
Pink This is first pink The bud continues to  open and the red corolla (petals) is visible.
First Bloom First Bloom in Peach When the first flowers open.
Full Bloom Full Bloom in Peaches Most of  the flowers on the tree are open.
Petal Fall Petal fall and in the shuck When the petals are falling off the tree. When all the petals have fallen the fruit is said to be "In the Shuck".
Shuck Split Shuck Split in Peaches When the growth of the fruit splits the shuck.

  Refers to fruit diameter.
Pit Hardening Not really a visible stage this is when the pit of the fruit becomes hard.  This is tested by trying to cut the fruit in half.

1 to 3 inch Fruit

  Refers to fruit diameter.
3.0" Fruit Large green peach  
Red Color Blushing green peach The fruit color changes from yellow to red.
First Harvest Ripe Peach Tree Ripe PeachesFirst picking of ripe fruit. Fruit color depends on the amount of light a peach receives. The fruit at left grew in the shade and the fruit at right grew in the sun.
