The MSU Fruit IPM Page has links to the Fruit CAT Alert which focuses on
Fruit IPM. It also includes a searchable database over the last 5 years. The Fruit CAT Alert is one of five
Crop Alert Team (CAT) IPM newsletters published during the growing season. The Fruit CAT
Alert newsletter is published and posted on the internet during the growing season.
A guide to the fruit growth stages used in the Fruit CAT Alert
is posted at this website. Growth stages are often used in scouting because the life
cycle of the host and pest are linked.
The Michigan Fruit Management Guide 2008, (E-154) includes the pest and disease control recommendations for the major fruit crops grown in Michigan.
Another publication is Fruit Crop Ecology and Management (E-2759) describes the ecology of perennial fruit production. Understanding the fruit production system allows growers to effectively manage their plantings
MSU publishes handy pocket guides for growers and scouts to quickly ID
pests in Apples, Grapes, Blueberries and Stone Fruit. A small fruit scouting guide
for raspberries and strawberries is due out soon.
